To celebrate its first anniversary, Wildfire Production will host a “summer” jam at the National Stadium and a Chutney show in Berbice later this month.
In a press release, the entertainment company, which had created stirs with the ‘Ignition’ and ‘Inferno’ concerts, said that the first event, “the Wildfire Fest 2K8” will be held at the National Stadium, Providence on July 26 and will begin from noon.
Over eight food bars, beverage bars, family entertainment, and live performances from both international and local artists, will form the core of the event.
The second event, “Wild Chutney Fire Fest” takes place the following day at the Port Mourant Community Centre, Berbice.
The company said the Wildfire Fest 2K8, will be its first “summer” jam and it is expected to be held on an annual basis. It will begin as a family fun day during the afternoon and will be converted into a super concert at nightfall.
During the day, there will be over eight food bars, which include Indian, Brazilian, Creole and Jamaican.
There will also be family activities such as face painting, caricatures (which are animated cartoon drawings of persons), airbrush tattooing, merry go round, trampoline jumping, and other novelty games, the release said.
The afternoon segment will feature live performances by local bands, artists and comedians. In between performances persons will be entertained by popular deejays and can enjoy an atmosphere of safety and fun. Then, in the evening the super concert will begin.
Patrons will get a taste of a cross section of international soca, dancehall and chutney music artists.
The Hunter, the Karma Band, the Chut-ney Ambassador, D’ Hitman, Ce’cile, Serani and the 2008 Soca Monarch, Shurwayne Winchester, will be on hand to entertain.
According to Wildfire, the artists have all proven to be quality performers and have promised to give Guyana a memorable performance for the Wild Fire Fest 2k8.
Patrons will be given all-day access bands so that they may enter and exit throughout the day. However, if these bands are tampered with they will not be able to enter unless they purchase a new one.
The ticket prices are $3,000 and children under 12 will be free with the supervision of an adult figure.
Meanwhile, the next day’s Chutney Fest will feature several local artists and the Chutney Contingent comprising the Hunter, D’Hitman and the Karma Band. Tickets will be $2,500 and children under 12 free but with the supervision of an adult. Gates open at 5 pm and the show starts at 8 pm.
