Berbicians can look forward for the fourth annual Berbice Expo and Trade Fair, organised by the Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce (CCCC) on July 25 to 28 at Albion Community Centre Ground.
Public Relations Officer of the CCCC, Adrian Anamayah, said the four-day expo would be held “with the kind compliments of the GuySuCo Albion Estate” under the theme: ‘Pioneering the Agriculture Revolution’.
He said the theme was chosen because “the chamber recognises the urgent need for the country to produce more to meet the demands for agricultural products globally and the challenges and opportunities that this presents.”
Anamayah added that the “chamber fully supports the government/Ministry of Agriculture’s grow more food campaign.”
He said the response for the expo has been good so far and that while space at the exhibition site is going rapidly there is still an adequate amount for other interested participants.
According to him, “At this year’s expo there would be some new faces including beverage companies like CIDI and Polar Ice which would be launching their products in Berbice.”
Exhibitors from India and neighbouring Brazil would also be participating in the event.
He pointed out that the organising committee has decided to maintain the ticket prices at $300 for adult and $100 for children. The gates would be opened from 2 pm for patrons to “enjoy wholesome entertainment for the entire family.”
Anamayah promised that a live band would be performing and that there would be “lots of games and activities for the children.”
Some of the proceeds, he said would be put towards projects including the establishment of the fire service which has already gotten off the ground.
Meanwhile, he mentioned that the CCCC would be hosting the Festival of India Trade Fair in early September at the same venue.
