Minister of Finance Dr Ashni Singh met last Friday with the Bankers Association of Guyana and updated members on several issues including the anti-money laundering bill that is under consideration in the Parliamentary Sub-Committee.
Dr Singh also brought members of the Bankers Association up to date on work being done on financial sector legislation, including that for the licensing of money transfer agencies; and the status of developing a Credit Bureau as part of the National Competitiveness Strategy, the Government Information Agency (GINA) reported.
The finance minister meets periodically with private sector bodies to facilitate feedback on issues and last week also he met with the newly-elected executive of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce (GCC).
