As part of its mission to help vulnerable children, the Aditya Kids Trust Fund Foundation (AKTFF) of Bath Settlement, West Berbice recently treated occupants of the Shaheed’s Girls Orphanage to lunch and gifts.
Members of the foundation visited the orphanage at Oleander Gardens on the East Coast and also presented the children with gifts including footwear.
The AKTFF is a non-profit organisation that has been involved in charity works in keeping with its motto, “Investing in Our Future by Helping Kids.”
The organisation is registered with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and is managed by a board of directors including Archie Mohan, Premchand Punwassie, Tameshwar Harripersaud, Iqbal Rahaman and Nasir Ghanny of Ontario who resided in various parts of Guyana.
The organisation raises funds mainly through donations and social events held in Canada and use the proceeds to “to help the sick and less fortunate,” according to a member.
In April, the AKTFF made a contribution of $100,000 to little Farziena Ali of Betsy Ground, Canje to assist in offsetting the cost of cardiac surgery which was performed in India. The surgery was a success and Farziena is now recuperating satisfactorily.
As part of another fund-raising venture, the AKTFF also sponsors local youth cricket tournaments. Currently the organisation has sponsored a 40-over cricket tournament for under 17 players mainly from West Berbice areas and plans are in place for a 20/20 cricket tournament scheduled for August 23 and 24.
