The girls players on the national squash team continued their dominant run on the second day of the Caribbean junior squash championships in Bermuda.
All six of the team members marched impressively into the semifinals of all four age categories.
Unseeded Ashley deGroot defeated the second seeded player in a row when she took care of third seed Jessica Perkins (JAM) 9/2 9/0 9/5 to continue her magical run in the under-15 category.
Daina King also created a major upset when she took out number four seed Amy Gillezeau (T&T) in the girls’ under-19 category.
Also booking places in the semifinals were Victoria Arjoon, under-13, Mary Fung-A-Fat under-15 and Keisha and Kayla Jeffrey in the under-17 category.
Three of the boys also managed to book semifinal places, when Abhishek Singh, Oliver Downes and Alexander Arjoon managed to withstand the pressure after some early nerves.
The under-13 numbers two and three seeds Jean-Claude Jeffrey and Nyron Joseph were on the receiving end of major upsets from Jake Mahfood (JAM) and D’Vario Thompson (BER) respectively.
Although Deje Dias played some of the best squash of his life against his team mate Oliver Downes, Downes just seemed to play the big points better on his way to a 9/5 8/10 9/1 9/6 win.
Raphael deGroot also gave a good account of himself against number three seed Bruce Burrowes (JAM) in their boys under-19 match.
The Individual will be this evening and the team championships is scheduled to begin on Wednesday.
