After years of trying, suddenly achieving success brings a sense of accomplishment and pride.
The Saraswat Primary School, located at De Willem, West Coast Demerara is no different and is celebrating the accomplishment of two of its students, who excelled at the National Grade Six Assessment.
Sasha Singh and Chandroutie Budram, both 12-years-old are the pride and joy of the school, having placed 75th and 132nd respectively in the country for the exam. It is the first time that the school has ever had a student in the top 100. The aspiring doctor and lawyer will be attending Queen’s College when school re-opens in September.
According to their Grade Six teacher, Zareema Azaad, the duo had been doing well throughout their primary school years. The happy teacher noted that it is the first time that she taught the Grade Six class and she is extremely happy with the results.
Singh related that she expected to do well but not as well so as to place in the top hundred. She credited her success to hard work, determination, and encouragement from her teachers, parents and grandparents and thanked everyone who supported her. She encouraged other pupils of the school to improve on her performance.
Budhram meanwhile stated that the results were beyond her expectations and asserted that her success came through hard work and “commitment to doing good”. She thanked Azaad and her parents for their patience and encouragement. “I would like to tell my fellow students that if you want to do good, work hard”, she said.
