Today, former St Roses High School student Trishanna Savita Singh Debidayal would have celebrated her 16th birthday but she was fatally struck by a truck three years ago and her family says they are yet to get justice.
Trishanna’s mother Agnes Debidayal said she still feels heart-rending pain at poignant memories of her daughter. What makes it worse the woman said, is that the courts seem to be crawling with the case, delaying justice for Trishanna.
The then 13-year-old second form student was struck down at a pedestrian crossing after she had disembarked a minibus coming home from school. The truck struck her as she was crossing the Better Hope road.
In a memoriam written by her family, Trishanna was described as a “beautiful, talented, vibrant, young lady, snatched at the very dawn of her youth.” The family said that Trishanna showed great potential and had accomplished much in her short years. One of the things they remember most about her was her ability to dance.
