A 38-year-old man was killed on Thursday at Quartz Hill Backdam, Cuyuni River, when he was crushed by a truck as it rolled down the hill.
Colin Lyken of Kaneville, East Bank Demerara (EBD) was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bartica Regional Hospital.
According to the police, investigations have revealed that Lyken was in the tray of a vehicle that was transporting workers to their work site when it developed mechanical problems and began rolling down the hill.
Lyken fell as he attempted to jump out of the vehicle and it was at this point that the truck ran over him, the police said.
