The “occupant” of a bus shed is now a patient of the Georgetown Public Hospital, after he was chopped about his body.
Paul Ramlakhan, 40, who gave his address as 24 Seaforth Street., Campbell-ville, but who sleeps in a bus shed on Agriculture Road, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, was admitted to the GPH after being chopped several times about his body by a man he said was a minibus driver.
Ramlakhan told Stabroek News that he was about to enter the bus shed where he sleeps on Agriculture Road, Mon Repos when the “minibus driver came from nowhere” and started chopping him. He said he knew the man because they had had a misunderstanding some time ago. Ramlakhan also said that the man had told him that if he saw him anywhere he would kill him.
He said after his attacker left, he was rescued by a passer-by who took him to the Beterverwagting Police Station.
Ramlakhan said that the police, after taking a statement from him and driving him to the city, put him out of the vehicle on Thomas Street and told him to walk to the hospital.
The man has several chop wounds to the face, arms and legs.
