Bridge and roads in Good Hope, ECD, are in a terrible state

Dear Editor,

The access bridge to Good Hope, East Coast Demerara, which is home to thousands, has been in a state of disrepair for a very long time, and this precarious situation is of growing concern to residents.  Some of the boards have become loose, and with each passing day the entire bridge is becoming weaker.

The rapid growth of the population of this village necessitates the construction of a concrete structure, which also makes economic sense.  The bridge was rebuilt two times in about five years.

In addition, Mr Editor, the roads are in a terrible state.  Vehicles are forced to divert to other roads which are in somewhat better condition, and now all the roads are damaged.  What is the local authority doing about this?  No maintenance work is being done.

Residents are calling for these matters to be addressed in the near future, so that we can live in a state of dignity.

Yours faithfully,
