Vishaul and Vinu Sawh are two brothers with one objective in mind tomorrow.
They aim to hot up the South Dakota Circuit.
The brothers will tomorrow look to continue a family tradition when they take to the South Dakota Circuit for the third Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club meet.
Dubbed the `Ultimate Race of Champions’ the event is co-sponsored by Skyline Mortgage, GT&T Cellink Plus, Carib Beer and Sunburst Orange Juice.
Speaking to Stabroek Sport the elder Sawh, Vishaul, who will be competing in group two `B’ said he was looking to follow up on his numerous podium finishes in his 20-race career.
The 31-year-old speedster said that his car, a Toyota Starlet, was presently being fine-tuned by his competent team of mechanics including 21-year-old Bertram called Junior and James.
Vishaul added that his group is expected to be one of the stiffest as some of the competitors include defending champion Rupie Shewjattan, veterans Fazil Habibullah and Errol Ten Pow; Afraz Ally, Gavin Gouveia, Danny Persaud and US- based Kawall Deosarran driving a Skyline Mortgage Lotus Elise.
Vishaul said that one problem which has caused him to take part in only a few races was one of sponsorship as his business Auto Toy Store, was sponsoring both himself and younger brother Vinu’s car.
Meanwhile Vinu, a former top table tennis junior player, is in his first meet and will be taking part in the rookie category.
Vinu told Stabroek Sport that it was his hope to keep the family flag flying and he was looking to take inspiration from the exploits of his uncle Kamal Seebaran, who taught him the ins-and-outs of racing.
According to Vinu he is just looking for experience.
Apart from hoping to have fun, Vinu said he was looking to acquire some memorable experiences along the way.
Vinu says he has not yet tested the circuit in his Toyota Starlet as the mechanics only began working on his car on Monday.
Nevertheless he hopes that it will be completed in time for him to have a `feel’ of both the car and the circuit before tomorrow’s big day.
The rookie category is expected to be one of the largest come tomorrow with drivers of the calibre of Syed Fawaz, Romeo Singh, Sheik Yassin, Ravi Deodass, Shawn Hassan, Reaz Ally, Shailendra Mohabir, Anand Ramchand and others competing.
The rookie class was created about four years ago and caters for new drivers coming into the sport.
