Dazelle Housing Scheme residents were treated earlier this month to a cement mixing demonstration and walked away with a number of prizes when TGI Guyana Inc (TGI) pitched its ‘Cement Tent’ in Paradise.
According to a press release Trinidad and Tobago Concrete Technologist Danny Jairam encouraged residents to make the best use of each bag of cement they open. He said the TCL Guyana Inc (TGI) aims to educate the public on how to use available resources wisely and “cost effectively”. In his address to the Paradise, East Coast Demerara residents Jairam said given their proximity to the sea, having the right ingredients in their concrete mix is even more important since constant exposure to the salt air from the sea can determine the lifetime of their structures.
Residents welcomed the company’s efforts in bringing the ‘Tent’ to their area. They participated in interactive sessions and were able to benefit from a question and answer segment. Participants also benefited from giveaways including trowels, spades, construction buckets and cement.
In handing over the prizes TGI Plant Manager Mark Bender encouraged residents to make the best use of the product and use the tools they were equipped with so that they can get the best finish for each project they undertake.
