Mike Mangal came out victorious in last Saturdayโs Neal and Massy 40th anniversary golf tournament.
Playing off an eight handicap, Mangal scored a gross 78 to end with a net 70 and stop a fierce challenge from the in-form seasoned campaigner Maurice Solomon whom he defeated on a count back after they both ended on a net 70.
Solomon, who also finished second last week, had a gross 94 playing off a 24 handicap. He also won the Nearest to the Pin prize.
Imran Khan, who has also been among the prize winners for most of the tournaments this season, secured third position playing off a handicap six.
He secured a gross 80 to end with a net 74.
Stuart May, Brand Man-ager of Geddes Grant, who presented the prizes on behalf of Neal and Massy Group of Companies, said the group was pleased to sponsor the tournament once again and said this year was significant since the group was celebrating 40 years of existence in Guyana.
He added that the group was also looking forward to offering further support to the Lusignan Golf Club in the near future.
Neal and Massy Group of Companies comprise Associ-ated Industries Ltd (AINLIM), Demerara Oxygen Company (DOCOL), CCS, M&D, NMSL, Security Solutions and Geddes Grant.
Mel Sankies, president of the LGC, expressed gratitude to Neal and Massy for their support and he extended an invitation to the staff of the group to join the club.
Meanwhile, the Green-some Tournament and fund-raising Bar-B-Que organized by the club for Saturday has been postponed due to the current inclement weather, Sankies disclosed.
He said a new date will be confirmed shortly but proposed August 17 as the likely date.
According to Sankies, members will instead participate in a Stableford format club tournament on Saturday starting at 12:30 hours.
