Dear Editor,
The government should speed up the acquisition of the big buses. On Thursday, June 24, I boarded a bus at Parika. Sitting behind the driver, there were two high-powered tweeters (speakers) screeching in my ears. I asked the driver and the conductor to ease the volume, but they kept telling me it wasn’t loud. When they refused to turn down the music, I asked to be put off the bus. I was put off at 6.40 am. The conductor then demanded $80, which I paid. Commuters must not be subjected to this kind of treatment by these uncouth operators.
The Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Tourism should look into these matters, as they affect tourists as well. The tourism associations should also do something, as lots of money is spent (wasted) to boost tourism. I wish more people would voice their concerns on this issue.
Yours faithfully,
M. S. Baksh
