Guyana’s select U-15 team mauled by Trinidad’s U-14

The National Park tarmac was the scene of a mauling as Guyana’s All Sports select U-15 squad went down to the Trinidadian squad by 103 runs on Sunday.

The Trinidad team, opting to  bat first on a sunny day, posted a commanding total of 108 all out from 10 of their allotted 20 overs with Brandon Sooklall scoring a composed 27, batting at number three. In reply, Guyana, after battling to 20 for three succumbed to the tight bowling of the Trinidadians and fell for twenty-five as the Trinidadians savoured a compelling victory.

For Guyana,  B.  Alexander top scored with eight.

The Trinidadian team, was praised by their coach Glen Dwarika who was elated by his team’s performance.

He noted that hard work, dedication and professionalism were responsible for his team’s good showing. The Trinidad team which suffered three defeats in their first three outings according to coach Dwarika was beaten by teams which exhibited a high standard of cricket.

He added, that the team which received the blessings of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) displayed a high degree of professionalism and represented their country with dignity.

Dwarika was also full of praise for the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) which he said did excellent preparatory work for the youngsters.

He stated that the team learnt a great deal about social interaction and he was happy that the teams  his country played against gelled so well.

He said that the goodwill series will continue between the two countries as players from the teams should make it to the U-15 and U-19 squads where competition will be stiffer.
