Dear Editor,
The calls for the resignation of GFF president Colin Klass have certainly captured my interest.
This is so because it seems to be the norm in some, if not many, sports organizations in Guyana. With a few exceptions, these organizations are arrested and populated by a cabal of individuals who only have their selfish ambitions to fulfil.
The media and corporate sponsors are partially to blame for encouraging this sort of repugnant behaviour; let the publicity and sponsorship funds dry up and see what happens.
I live and conduct my business in an area that is considered to be a depressed one and also where lots of youths are involved in football.
Not a single day passes without someone complaining about the untoward and ruinous attitude of the GFF towards players and football as a whole. Sponsors have to demand accountability from these organizations when they donate funds and the media have to do more investigative journalism to expose the shortcomings of sports associations. I would venture to suggest that the Guyana Lawn Tennis Association (GLTA) is a good place to start.
Yours faithfully,
Clinton Urling
