Great Memories of the Jagdeo Stables, won the Banks DIH feature `C’ class and lower event when the Port Mourant Turf club held its grand eight event Emancipation horse race meet on Sunday.
Great Memories won comfortably from stable mate, Isle Be Thru with Little Pannie and Baby Boy finishing third and fourth respectively.
At stake in the one mile event, was a first prize of $300, 000.
The three-year event for horses born and bred in Guyana and the West Indies was won by Showing Up from Tropical Passion and pre race favourite the Gap. The event, also a one mile affair, was worth $200,000 to the winner.
Pleasure Star took the two-year-old 1000m gallop which had $160,000 on offer for the winner, from La-Bayamosa with Princes Warrior third while Fresh Prospect of the Jagdeo Stables won the `F’ class event and the $160,000 first prize in the 1200m sprint. Stable mate Fire Power blazed home second with Love You Dee third.
Perfect Drift drifted past Brown Boy and Miami Vice respectively to pocket the $110,000 first prize on offer for winning the 1400m `H’ class race while the, `I’ class event was taken by Brown Boy from Miami Vice and Sue Sheumi respectively. The win was worth $100,000.
Choice Return provided choice returns of $90,000 for his owner for winning the `J’ and `K’ event from Sadam and Miracle Mind in the 1200m sprint while Miracle Mind won the `L’ class 1200 gallop worth $80.000 from Fire Maker and Funny Side.
Jockey Krishna Singh received the Trophy stall trophy from owner Kevin Sunich for being the champion jockey
Popular Sound System Rhythm Stars International provided musical moods for the event which attracted one of the largest crowds at the venue.
Over 55 horses took part in the day’s proceedings which had over 2.5 million dollars at stake.
