Thirty-seven-year-old Peter Duesbury of 17 Lyng Street, Charlestown was discovered around 7:30 am yesterday hanging from a tree in his neighbour’s yard.

It is believed that a mental condition brought on by drug use may have caused him to take his own life.
His sister Sharon told Stabroek News yesterday that he never spoke of suicide before but would complain of not being able to sleep and had told his mother that he was “fed up” with his mental condition.

She said that on many occasions the court had ordered that he seek treatment at the Georgetown Hospital’s Observation Ward but he refused to take his tablets.

She said that after his recent visit to the ward, earlier this year a relative had decided that efforts should be made to get him into the Berbice mental facility. He leaves to mourn five siblings.

Meanwhile sometime around 9:30 am yesterday, 19-year-old Frank Solomon was discovered hanging from a beam in the roof of his Lot 25 Block E, Sophia home. It is unclear what led to his decision but according to reports something was troubling the young man.

He asked for a piece of rope shortly before he was found.

The man’s stepfather Holroy Prass said that on Tuesday afternoon all seemed well with Solomon and when he left the home yesterday morning he did not get a chance to speak with him. He said that while at work he received a call that he should come home urgently after some persons broke down the door and found Solomon hanging.

The man said that he is clueless as to what might have led to the incident as he was unaware of any problems. He said that his stepson returned from the interior several weeks ago and all seemed well.

Stabroek News was told that on Tuesday night Solomon was very agitated and showed signs of being troubled. Yesterday morning he was asking children in the street for rope. Solomon was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Hospital.

He leaves behind his mother, Dena and a younger sister.
