Dear Editor,
It is with sadness that I have heard in South Africa, of the untimely death of Mr Abel, Chief Inspector of the GSPCA [Guyana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals ].
I should like to send my deepest condolences to his family and also to his colleagues of the GSPCA. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
As a volunteer and member of the Animal Society in Georgetown a number of years ago, I can remember on many occasions that I would accompany Mr Abel on his rounds, to perhaps collect a dog or perhaps take him far afield to euthanise a horse.
He was a responsible man who took his work very seriously. Thankfully he had a good sense of humour too and I know he will be greatly missed by all his colleagues in Robb St.
I’m so very sorry to hear of your loss.
Yours faithfully,
Nicole Fitzsimmons
