Dear Editor,
I congratulate the Ministry of Agriculture for all the hard work and new initiatives that are being undertaken almost every day to foster the development of agriculture in this country.
With the current “Grow More” campaign, I have seen food prices reducing drastically in the various regions of Guyana. I travel a lot in the Caribbean and speak to friends and family in the North American countries and they are seriously complaining about the hike in food prices in these regions. Through the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture, we don’t have to do any such complaining in Guyana.
I am relieved as a Guyanese to see that the prices of many commodities on our shelves are the same and even lower than at the beginning of the year. All of this I credit to the intervention of the Government through the Ministry of Agriculture’s “Grow More Food Campaign.”
We can see many sign boards, television, radio and newspaper ads telling us to grow more food. This is great. Everyday persons are coming into Guyana and there is need for more food. The good part is that even the tourists love this place because they don’t have to spend more than US$10.00 to get a first class meal. In some countries in the Caribbean, you can’t even pick up a snack with that amount of money.
Yours faithfully,
Paul Taylor
