Dear Editor,
With the current debate about the origin of Banwari and his chafe, I remembered a saying which has puzzled me since childhood.
As very young children, when we provoked our grandmother to anger, she would always tick us off by warning “Keep it up and you’ll die like Miss Willis goat”. She would say the same about anyone who caused trouble.
My older brother and I always wondered ‘Who is Miss Willis and how did her goat die?’ Perhaps someone in the 80+ age group might have the answer.
Yours faithfully,
Geralda Dennison
