The remaining semi-final of the Berbice Cricket Board of Control (BCBC) 2007 Isaac Bissoon three-day competition will commence today and run until Sunday with Port Mourant and Young Warriors opposing each other at the Cumberland ground in Canje.
In the first game of this fixture at the same venue, Young Warriors who topped zone A of the competition were bowled out for 263 in their first innings just before the end of the first day and Port Mourant who ended as runners-up of zone B were shakily placed on 37-4 in reply at the end of the day.
Rain then had the final say in the match, washing out the second and third day, and even though the organizers enforced the fourth day, still no play was possible as it continued to rain cats and dogs.
This time around even though the option of the fourth day is in place, both teams will be looking to complete the game without using it and Young Warriors should be looking for a repeat performance against their opponents.
They will be led by former national player and TCL Under-19 coach Hubern Evans who will have such players as 2008 Guyana/TCL Under-19 all-rounder Seon Hetmyer, former West Indies under-19 player Richard Ramdeen, national middle order and former West Indies under-19 batsman Gajanand Singh, all-rounder Paul Wintz, Farouk Hussain and fast bowler Kwesi Maltay, who can also hold his own with the bat, at his disposal.
They will be confronting a Port Mourant lineup that includes former national middle order batsman Homchand Pooran, wicketkeeper/batsman Poorendra Debidyal, former national under-19 batsman Roopnarine Ramgobin, former Berbice under-19 captain Rajiv Ivan, Rajendra Bolo and Yogendra Harrinarine.
Add Rajcoomar Boodram and former Berbice under-15 off spinner Shameer Khan to the fray and Young Warriors would definitely know that this fixture replay under the supervision of Roshan Moakan and Joseph Simon is not a walk in the park.
Action is set to get underway from 10:30hrs each day.
