Thousands attended the Eighth Annual Lake Mainstay Regatta which was held in the Essequibo Coast community yesterday.
According to a release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) the response from this year’s regatta was overwhelming as the exciting races wowed the crowd and Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce Manniram Prashad said that discussions are currently ongoing for it to be held twice a year.
GINA said that the Minister noted the important role that regattas play in the country as they bring communities together; showcase the products of businesses and provide quality entertainment for families. The release added that Prashad noted that it is an aim of the Ministry to have this event marketed internationally
