CSEC top student, 16-year-old Rahul Nehall Lall, has said that while he expected to do well he has surpassed even his own expectations.
Speaking to Stabroek News yesterday the young man said that he is elated at his success, which is mostly due to his ability to retain what he learns in class since he is not a huge fan of studying.
The former CV Nunes primary school student had topped his school and placed in the thirties among the top 100 Common Entrance students several years ago. He is once again shining, this time as the top CSEC student of not only his school, Anna Regina Secondary, but the entire country.
This young man who begins his day by doing chores at home says that he is not sure what his next move will be, but he would probably be going to the University of Guyana although he does not know as yet what studies he will pursue.
Lall who gained 14 grade ones and two grade twos said that he wrote at least two subjects from all the streams – Science, Technology, Business and Arts. He however only attended extra lessons for Chemistry and Physics because the syllabus could not be finished on time at school.
He fondly recalled that his mother would chastise him for not studying enough and for always listening to music on his Mp3 player.
Lall said that he wants his success to be dedicated to the memory of his deceased brother Kevic Shiva Lall.
Nazana Weekes and Robert Mansell, both of Queen’s College, have been named top Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) and General Certificate of Education Examination (GCE) students respectively.
