The Berbice Cricket Board of Control (BCBC) has called up 38 cricketers to trial for the upcoming senior El Dorado Inter-County 50 overs cricket competition that is set to commence on Saturday, 6th September.
Included in the list are eight senior national players, including former West Indies middle order batsman Narsingh Deonarine. There are also six under-19 players who represented Guyana at the recently concluded West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) TCL under-19 cricket tournament held recently in Barbados, in addition to captain Eugene La Fleur and 16-year-old fast bowler Keon Joseph who was arguably the fastest bowler in the tournament.
Those called to the three trial matches which will be played on Monday 25, Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 August respectively are: Royston Crandon, Maxie De Jonge, Richard Ramdeen, Farouk Hussain, Anthony D’ Andrade, Narsingh Deonarine, Gajanand Singh, Seon Hetmyer, Peter Grimes, Keith Fraser, Michael Newland, Damodar Dasrath, Rajiv Ivan, Ranga Lachigadu, Balram Samaroo, Eugene La Fleur, Khemraj Mahadeo, Anthony Bramble, Kwesi Mentore, Ishwar Singh, Jonathan Foo, Mahendra Nagamootoo, Devendra Bishoo, Veerasammy Permaul, Leroy Bristol, Esaun Crandon, Kellon Henry, Kwesi Maltay, Paul Wintz, Brendon Bess, Delbert Hicks, Yogendra Harrinarine, Winston Bess, Keon Joseph, Nedesh Basdeo and Stephen Latcha.
The above-named cricketers are asked to report to the Cumberland ground in Canje by 08:30hrs each day for a prompt 09:30hrs start.
The first match in the competition will see Berbice opposing Demerara at the Blairmont Community Centre ground.
