– Chubby Under-14 Championship
At the Tucville football playfield yesterday, Strike Again Football Club trashed their Georgetown counterparts Sunburst Camptown Football Club as action in the Georgetown Football Association’s (GFA)/Guyana Beverage Company sponsored Chubby Under-14 round robin competition continued.
Victories were recorded by Strike Again, First Assembly, Beacons and Fruta Conquerors ( who gained a walkover from Pele) while the other two matches contested were drawn.
Pele again gave a walkover this time to Fruta Conquerors as they failed to present themselves for their encounter.
Delano Baptiste and Ezekiel Jones blasted one goal each for Strike Again to upset the highly favored Sunburst Camptown 2 nil.
Defending Champions Beacons United kept their title defence solid when they scored a 2-1 defeat over Santos Football Club
Michael Campbell drew first blood for Beacons before Orlando Ricketts got the equalizer not long after for Santos. However, Darren Harris found the back of the net for Beacons to ensure his team’s defensive record remained intact and unblemished.
Flamingo lost out in a manner similar to Camptown as the lowly rated First Assembly inflicted a 2-0 defeat on them, courtesy of the two Kevins, in Kevin George and Kevin Herdual respectively, who were successful in finding the back of Flamingo’s goal for First Assembly.
Tournament debutants Rhythm Squad seem to be finding the correct rhythm in the competition, as they drew 2-2 with Georgetown Football Club (GFC), Shankitte Browne and Terid Dahlik scored for GFC while Jerell Walcott and Andel Flue scored for Rhythm Squad.
Renaissance recorded another draw, this time making it 1-1 with Thomas United. Selwin Williams scored for Renaissance while Dominique Vanderscotten found the equalizer for Thomas United.
