Police who ventured into the Tamakay backlands in search of missing man, Mark Pierre have not come up with anything substantial to tell of his disappearance, the man’s brother Marvin told Stabroek News yesterday.
Statements taken from people in the area show that some of them saw him heading to the backdam but no clues were picked up on what could have happened to him, and no one seems to know where he could have gone.
The already distressed family was thrown into deeper grief when Pierre’s 14-year-old son, Mattis Pierre was found hanging from a window at his D’Urban Street home around 10 pm on Friday. The youth’s grandmother told Stabroek News that his father’s disappearance may have upset him leading to him taking his life.
Pierre of Tamakay Landing and formerly of 11 D’Urban Street, Lodge was reportedly last seen on August 3rd by his sister-in-law at a shop they run at Tamakay.
He had told her that he was going to the washroom but never returned. Since his disappearance one of his brothers had ventured into the area to look for him but to no avail. Police from the Bartica and Enachu police stations had gone into the area to conduct investigations into his whereabouts but have not come up with anything, relatives said.
They continue to plead with anyone who may have information on the man’s sudden disappearance to call Juanita at 621-9549 or Marvin at 639-4811, or contact the police.
