Gathered on the steps of the St George’s Cathedral last night, these persons enjoyed the offerings from a steel band and a choral group. A laser show which was to be put on outside the cathedral by a team from Austria did not go ahead as planned because of technical problems.

Guyanese sculptor Louis Jordan with one of his pieces entitled ‘Meditation’ at the Visual Arts Exhibition at the National Gymnasium yesterday. It is made out of Purple Heart wood.
Treasure seekers: Stowell Michael with his exquisitely designed model ship at the Sophia Exhibition site yesterday. Little model treasure hunters are seen jumping out of the ship, which he designed and made out of local wood to draw attention to his ceramic pieces. It was one of the outstanding booths at the exhibition site yesterday.
The National Symphony Steel Orchestra of Trinidad and Tobago was in full flow on Saturday night when they delivered a crowd pleasing performance at the National Cultural Centre as part of the Carifesta celebrations.

The National Steel Orchestra put in a pulsating performance last night outside the St George’s Cathedral as part of the Carifesta X programme.

Bamboo Serenade: One of the art pieces on exhibit at the St Vincent and the Grenadines section of the Visual Arts Exhibition at the National Gymnasium yesterday. It was done by artist Dinks Johnson and is titled ‘Bamboo Serenade’.

Trinis on the march at Friday’s opening
Winners: 38-year-old Jhury Udenhout of Suriname with one of his sculptures entitled ‘Human Anatomy’ on display at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue yesterday. The artist explained that the sculpture depicts someone who has just won. The artist said that he has been sculpting for the past 17 years and this was not the only medium that he has worked with though he has a passion for sculpting. The sculpture is made of solid mahogany. The Carifesta X visual arts exhibition runs until August 30.
