Two men who allegedly stole almost $380,000 worth of Caterpillar parts on the Linden-Soesdyke Highway were remanded to prison when they appeared before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Rudolph Joseph and Michael Raphael were read a joint charge of simple larceny by Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
It is alleged that on August 15 at the Linden-Soesdyke Highway the men stole Caterpillar heavy duty machinery and one transmission control together worth $376,462, property of Raymond Alli.
According to reports, Joseph was employed with the virtual complainant as a caretaker and on the day in question he along with Raphael removed the items from the location. Alli later discovered the items missing and the men were arrested and charged with the offence.
“I was no where around – I didn’t even know what was lost,” Raphael told the court.
The men were remanded to prison and the matter will come up on September 16 for report.
