-many turned away
Part of the crowd which gathered outside of the National Cultural Centre last evening hoping to see Jamaican Oliver Samuels in action in the dramatic production “River Bottom”. The line extended from the front door of the Cultural Centre, around the northern side of the building and even spilled unto Homestretch Avenue. The doors of the centre were eventually shut leaving hundreds of patrons stranded outside.
Originally, tickets were required for performances such as the one last night but this was done away with after some performance had very low turnouts.
Members of the public had lined up for many hours prior to the start of Carifesta to secure tickets for these shows. Last night some patrons who were unable to get in complained bitterly about what had happened.
