New York-based Guyanese Roger Gary is one of eight international designers who will be featured in a major upcoming fashion week show in the Big Apple city.
According to a press release from the organisers of the show, Production Company Christie Dinham and Red NYC, the FashionHow International Designers Show is billed for September 6 and it is expected to feature outstanding designers from around the globe.
“The fashion industry will be buzzing with anticipation when these eight international designers showcase their collections at New York fashion week for the very first time at one of the cities trendiest restaurant, Devin Tavern located on Greenwich St, Tribeca NY,” the release said.
In the release Gary is described as a designer who is known for his is of colour and one who believes in offering high quality garment that us practical and modern, yet tinged with a touch of fantasy. He is expected to take a touch of the Caribbean to his women collections that would be on display during the fashion week.
“Already climbing the international ladder, Gary’s designs have already been featured in the New York Daily News, World Bride, Essence, She Caribbean and others,” the release said. His collection was also featured at another major fashion show in New York, the VH1/ Vogue Fashion Awards, and he is the only designer to be featured twice on BET’s ‘Rip the Runway’ alongside Busta Rymes and LL Cool J.
The other designers to be featured are celebrity menswear designer, Nana Boateng, who has had Britain soccer star, David Beckham and actor Forest Whitaker among others wear his clothes; Romero Bryan, whose clientele include British model Kate Moss, singers Beyonce Knowles and Alicia Keys; Larry Moulrie; Megan Crook and Samantha Mark of the UK and Herani Ethiopia of Eritrea.
