Pele Masters are 2008 Breezer, Nedd Memorial Champions

This past Sunday evening Pele Masters thrashed the Santos Masters in a penalty shootout at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda to claim the ‘Breezer, Nedd’ Memorial Title.

The Masters rolled back a few years to contest an enlivening final where both teams were launching numerous attacks at the opposition’s goal but the 50 minute final ended nil all at regulation time driving them into a tense penalty shootout.

Pele Masters ended up the champions after the 4 – 2 result of the shootout.

A total of seven matches were contested in the knockout tournament where 20 minutes was the allotted time per half in all matches except the final which ran for 25 minutes per half.

Semi –final one saw Pele Masters outdoing Georgetown Football Club (GFC) Masters in a penalty shootout which ended 4 – 2 in favour of Pele after a 1 – 1 draw at regulation time.

Michael Pedro scored for Pele Maters while Ivor Dowridge scored for GFC Masters during the 40 minute encounter.

Santos Masters tamed their Western Tigers counterparts in the other semi – final one nil courtesy of a Narku Durant strike.

The initial match of the tournament between Pele and Georgetown All Stars was won one nil by Pele after Edison Carol scored for his team.

Ricky Samon led Santos past Rastafarian Patriarchs one nil also in match two when he got an opportunity at goal and capitalized on it.

GFC Master carted off with a 2 – 1 victory over Carib Masters compliments of Raymond Corriea and Randolph Pedro who scored one each against Robin Arca’s single strike for Carib Masters.

Western Tigers and Thomas United contested the first penalty shootout of the day after they played to a stalemate. Five roaring penalty shots from Western Tigers conquered Thomas United’s four goals scored in the shootout.

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award was presented to Shawn Nedd Fraser while Dallas Sharples was named the Best goalkeeper and Michael Pedro, the highest goal scorer.
