Dear Editor,
I was delighted to read in the Stabroek News of Monday, September 8, that the civil society organization, the Georgetown Rotary Club, had combined with government to help alleviate one of the major problems in the Kuru Kuru community.
I am sure now that they have potable water, they will enlist the support of other agencies to provide for the maintenance and supply of clean water. The Rotarians and especially the Inner Wheel Club have always contributed to the literacy drive in Guyana by setting up libraries and, updating and up-keeping them. Mr Stanley Ming must be congratulated for taking the initiative. I am sure that there are other volunteers in the Guyanese community who will come forward to render service in the other areas, such as teaching, security and community. Development begins with one brave step and the Rotarians have set the example.
Yours faithfully,
Hazel Woolford
