Tradesmen trashed Daredevils XI this past Sunday at the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) ground in the Guyana Softball League (GSL) organized Memorex Enterprise 15-over softball tournament.
Daredevils suffered a 137-run trouncing. Tradesmen batted first and led by Rasheed Ally’s 44 that was supported by Roshan Singh with 33 reached a mammoth total of 213 in 15 overs while Leonard John grabbed 4 – 21 for Daredevils.
Murray Paul and Rohan Singh with 3 – 7 and 3 -15 respectively restricted Daredevils to 76 in 12.5 overs even though Rickey Paul made a fighting 29.
Daredevils plunged to a 75-run loss in their second match at the hands of Rockets. Rockets batted first and got to a total of 146 – 6 in 15 overs led by a brilliant 73 from Rohit Gear even as Anil Singh and Leonard John bagged 2-30 and 2-31 respectively.
Rockets destroyed Daredevils in 12 overs as they could only get to 71 against the bowling of Fazil Mohammed (3-13) and Carl Rampersaud (2-15).
Meanwhile, over at the Providence ground, Pitch # Two tournament debutants Banks DIH defeated Eccles Sports Club by 9 wickets. Eccles Sports Club won the toss and batted rattling up a score of 129 in 15 overs with Michael Persaud top scoring with 34 as he received support from Manichand Roy with 24 while Albert Cunningham and Roy Daniels took 4-20 and 2-15 respectively.
Banks DIH cruised to a score of 130-1 in 12.3 overs, led by a terrific half century from Ronald Jaisingh who made 75.
In the Berbice Zone of the tourney, Untouchable gained walkovers from Wildfire and Scottsburg at New Amsterdam ground then obliterated Downtown XI by a massive 104 runs.
Tony Ameerally with an unbeaten 60 helped Untouchables to set a target of 179 for victory.
Shaffeek Khan picked up 3-42 for Downtown before they replied with 74 in nine overs as Imran Jafferally (21) top scored while Roy Jafferally and Kemme Persaud finished with 4-15 and 3-11 respectively.
Cullen Sports Club defeated Colombia Sports Club by 4 wickets at the Reliance ground. Colombia SC batted and reached 137-8 in 15 overs as they were led by Suresh Rambali with an unbeaten 49 while in reply Cullen made 138-6 in 14 overs. They proceeded to the target on the shoulders of Narendra Ram who contributed an unbeaten 67.

Young Warriors batted second and defeated Young Guns by 3 wickets. They made 129-9 in 15 overs with Yaspaul Sooknanan blasting 59 then could not restrict Warriors as they got to 130-7 in 15 overs.
Electronics batted first and got to 131-7 in 15 overs led by Latchman Rohit with a splendid 70. They then short-circuited and United Brothers ran over them to get to 132-2 in reply with Jermaine Trotman making an unbeaten 68.
Reliance defied Jaguars by 10 wickets at the Perseverance ground, Essequibo.
Jaguars XI were inserted an scored 104 in 15 overs as Guyana under-15 player Rovendra Parsram claimed 3-12 before Reliance replied and made 105 without loss in 12 overs with Yogeshwar Persaud and Parsram blasting unbeaten scores of 54 and 42 respectively.
