The government seems to be its own worst enemy most of the time

Dear Editor,

It seems to some of us overseas that the President is either too busy to read about and question some of what is occurring in Guyana. The airport thefts, the Gilhuys fiasco and other questionable situations beg for someone in authority to stop and ask why it is happening, who is responsible and what can be done to correct it.

Why no immediate airport meetings with the security forces and others to implement a comprehensive security plan? Who supervised the  police response in the squatting area?
On the other hand, the President’s failure to assent to legislation passed by the Parliament in mid-August without giving a reason is inexcusable; it disrespects the Parliament and damages his leadership. The Speaker should have contacted his office and requested he follow the law, which no one is above. This is like waiting for never-ending investigations. The government seems to be its own worst enemy most of the time through poor communication or actions. Implementation and follow-up is lacking too many times.

Yours faithfully,
