Courts Guyana Inc. yesterday handed over a cheque for US$400 to the `Reds’ Perreira Sports Foundation thereby officially becoming a co-sponsor of the foundation’s upcoming fast bowling clinic.
The donation of the cheque which is equivalent to approximately G$80,000 will aid in the administrative expenses of the event and was done at the company’s Main Street branch.
Marketing Executive of Courts Guyana Inc. Molly Hassan stated that Courts was proud to be associated with the foundation because since its existence it had done a lot for local sports, especially cricket.
“In this venture we would like to mirror the work of the `Reds’ Perreira Foundation and to assist in the development of cricket in Guyana,” Hassan said.
In the presence of Vice-President of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Malcom Peters and Purchasing and Customer Service Representative, Clyde DeHaas, Liaison Officer of RPSF, Troy Peters, speaking on behalf of Joseph ‘Reds’ Perreira, who was absent, thanked Courts for their support, especially on this venture.
“Without Courts, reaching this goal would not have been possible and so we are looking forward to the commencement of this event that is organized by the Guyana Cricket Board,” Peters stated.
Peters added that the clinic would involve 15 males and three females and he expressed hope that there would be improvement in the fast bowling area for upcoming tournaments.
The clinic commences September 23 at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground, Bourda and concludes two days later. It will be conducted by former West Indies right-arm, fast-medium bowler Ezra Moseley of Barbados.
