National Race Walk Champion, Rudolph Mitchell in cool conditions gained his 79th consecutive local title and the Ministry of Education Dr. Desrey Fox trophy when the Cavaliers Sports and Tour Club’s (CSTC) seven-lap race walk competition was held in the National Park last Sunday.
The event that was held in observance of Amerindian Heritage Month saw Oneil Jospeh and Jeremy Cornelius finishing second and third respectively.
Brian Roberts took the top position in the veterans category ahead of Debidyal and A. Fagundes in the second and third positions respectively while Donna Ramkisson walked away with the top position in the female category.
Trophies and other prizes for this event were donated by Minister Shaik Baksh, Dr. Desrey Fox, Minister of Amerindian Affairs Pauline Sukhai, Speaker of the National Assembly Ralph Ramkarran, AFC Leader and Attorney-at-Law Raphael Trotman and Ricks and Sari Ltd.
Meanwhile the CSTC will stage their ten-lap Education Month 2008 Race Walk on Sunday, September 28 around the Soesdyke Circuit commencing at 6:30hrs.
And on October 5 CSTC will stage its Dawn of a New Era six laps Race Walk around the National Park. Trophies, medals and other prizes will be at stake in the male and female juniors, juveniles and veterans categories.
In addition, an Amerindian Heritage Month 2008 Race Walk which is scheduled to stride off on Sunday, December 7 is also on the CSTC’s calendar of activities. This race will commence at 6:30hrs at the Kitty Pump Station, Kitty Seawall and conclude at the Umana Yana, Kingston.
