An Ituni man is now a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he sustained a deep cut across his face from a chainsaw he was using.
Samuel George was cutting the top off an upright column when the chainsaw he was using bounced off into his face, slashing him on the right side off his face starting from the middle of his forehead to just above his lip. George and his friend Winston Fraser were adding a room to his house when the accident occurred.
The pump attendant said that he is thanking his lucky stars that his eyes were not injured in any way. “God de really deh with me I telling you,” the man told Stabroek News from his hospital bed in the open ward of the GPHC yesterday.” “It barely miss meh eyes” he said.
George further said that after the incident his wife Merlin tried to stop the flow of blood with a towel. He was then taken to the Ituni hospital where the wound was cleaned and washed. He was transferred to the McKenzie hospital and then finally to the Georgetown Hospital where the wound was stitched. “I ain’t feeling no pain right now,” but it hurt when they were stitching it,” the man said.
