A gunman posing as a customer yesterday held up the cashier at Munchkins on Lamaha Street and later fled with $7000.
Up to press time he had not been caught.
When Stabroek News visited the children’s store yesterday staff were tightlipped about the incident. An employee told this newspaper that they had been instructed by management not speak but give assurances that no one was injured during the ordeal.
A senior police source said that around 1:30 pm a man walked into the store and pretended to be a customer.
After a few minutes had passed he pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the cashier.
Seven thousand dollars was handed over and the man fled the area on foot.
