-defeats `Powerhouse’ Courts in second match of tapeball series
Banks DIH cricketers pulled off an exciting victory over their counterparts from furniture giants Courts by five wickets in a clash of the giants in their feature 20-over tapeball cricket match Friday evening at Thirst Park ground.
The local beverage giants kept their nerve to win in the penultimate over after Courts “Powerhouse” had scored a defiant 142 for 9 off their allotted 20 overs.
Troy Corbin (27), captain Trevor Amadally (26) and Damian Fraser (24) were the leading scorers for Courts.
Seon Simpson bagged 3 wickets for six runs while Devon October supported well with 2 for 20 bowling for Banks.
In reply, the home team hit off the required runs for the loss of five wickets thanks to solid middle order batting by Narendranauth Puran with 38, Captain Otis Grannum, 32, and Dillon Cox who was left unbeaten on 23.
Kester Williams was the pick of the Courts bowlers with 2 for 25.
Simpson who made 20 and picked up three wickets was named Man-of-the Match.
The Banks DIH side had beaten Republic Bank in the first match of the Friday Evening Floodlight series at Thirst Park in their first match and will now turn their focus to Trans Guyana Aviation who they will play on Friday in another match of the series.
The trophies for the winning team and Man-of-the-Match were donated by Courts.
Ricardo Manbodh, President of Courts Sports Club presented the winning team’s trophy to Banks DIH captain Grannum while Simpson received his award from Ryan Gittens another representative from the furniture giants.
