Sunburst Camptown and Beacon United Football Club will do battle tomorrow at the Camptown ground to decide which team advances to the semi-final stage of the Georgetown Football Association’s (GFA) DeSinco Trading under-18 football tournament.
The match was scheduled to be contested on Saturday at the Camptown ground along with the other quarterfinal matches but the ground was not ready for the encounter so it was rescheduled.
The victor of the Camptown/Beacon encounter will face Fruta Conquerors, who defeated Thomas United 8 – 1 on Saturday for a spot in the final.
Alpha United and Georgetown Football Club (GFC) defeated Flamingo and BK International Western Tigers respectively to book the other two semi-final spots.
All semi-finals will be contested at the Tucville playfield on Saturday with Alpha United meeting GFC at 4pm and Fruta Conquerors facing the winner of the Camptown/Beacon match-up at 6pm.
On October 4 the final and third place matches will be played at the Tucville playfield at 6pm and 4pm respectively to officially conclude the tourney.
Since the commencement of the tournament a total of 114 goals were scored, 98 of which were in the preliminary rounds and the remaining 16 goals were from the three quarterfinals.
Fruta Conquerors finished on top of group A at the conclusion of the preliminary rounds with 11 points, Alpha United and Beacon occupied second and third spots with 10 points each while GFC, Pele and Uprising occupied the remaining spots with eight, three and zero points respectively.
Western Tigers had the pole position in group B after the prelims concluded with 13 points, Camptown stood at second with 12 points and Flamingo third with 10 points while Thomas United, Santos and Renaissance were at the bottom of the table with six, three and zero points respectively.
