CN Sharma and his wife Savitree Singh of CNS Channel Six were granted judgement in their favour by Justice Jainarayan Singh Jnr in the high court matter against Chandra Prasad-Narine and Anand Persaud of National Television Network (NTN).
The matter concluded yesterday with Sharma being awarded $500,000 and Singh $2.5 million.
The couple sued NTN’s management in 1997 after the station repeatedly aired programmes which contained defamatory remarks made by a senior People’s Progressive Party (PPP) Government official, Clinton Collymore at a public meeting at Grove, East Bank Demerara sponsored by the PPP.
The Sharmas were represented by attorney-at-law Nigel Hughes.
NTN was represented by attorney Anil Nandlall.
Sharma also recently won a libel case against Agriculture Minister Robert Persaud.
