A 33-year-old man was yesterday placed on $75,000 bail after he appeared before Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle on a charge of unlawful discharge of a firearm.
It is alleged that on May 7, Martin Doorgen, 33, of 117 Regent Road, Bourda discharged the loaded weapon at Imran Khan with intention to maim, disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm.
Doorgen pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by the magistrate.
It was stated in court that the virtual complainant, Khan, is the defendant in another matter where Doorgen is the VC.
Doorgen, an electrician, told the court that he was assaulted sometime back by Khan who was brought before the court and placed on bail but he did not turn up for the matter for several months. Since then the two had “a talking” and the current matter arose from that.
The case will come up again in court on October 10.
