The Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) cricket development committee is at it again.
This time, the committee has organized a 10/10 cricket tournament amongst the top 12 first division teams which is set to bowl off on Wednesday. The knockout competition will see the winning team take home a first prize of $100,000 in cash and another $100,000 in hygiene and educational kits.
The runners-up would pocket $50,000 in cash and the same amount in hygiene and educational kits.
The losing team in the semi finals of the tournament which is being sponsored by Ansa Mc Al Limited will collect $15,000 in cash and the same amount in hygiene kits whilst the Man-of-the-Match in the finals will receive a trophy and $10,000.
Young Warriors, Scottsburg United, Blairmont Community Centre, Port Mourant Community Centre, Albion Community Centre, Bermine, Rose Hall Canje, Kildonan, Berbice Police, Skeldon and West Berbice, would all be contesting for the first prize, along with the host club Rose Hall Windies Sports Bar in the win or go home contest.
All the teams will be at full strength, with Assad Fudadin, Royston and Esaun Crandon and Andre Percival donning the uniforms for RHTWSB; Narsingh Deonarine, Sewnarine Chattergoon and national spin twins Devendra Bishoo and Veerasammy Permaul for Albion; Gajanand Singh, Paul Wintz, Richard Ramdeen and national under-19 all rounder Seon Hetmyer for Young Warriors and Rajiv Ivan, Homchand Pooran and Mahendra Nagamootoo for Port Mourant.
This 10/10 tournament is the fourth major tournament to be organised by the RHTYSC cricket development committee and club secretary Hilbert Foster stated in a press release that the competition was part of the club’s effort to bring back cricket fans to the grounds.
An exciting first round can be anticipated by fans, especially with teams having to win their game to advance and first round action will see Warriors and Rose Hall Canje clashing at the Canje ground from 1230 hrs whilst Police and Blairmont will go head-to-head at the same venue from 1500hrs.
At the Albion Community Centre ground, West Berbice and Bermine will clash from 1230hrs, whilst Skeldon would take on the home team from 1500hrs. RHTWSB will face Kildonan from 1230hrs and Port Mourant and Scottsburg United will square off from 1500hrs at the Area ‘H’ ground.
