Richmond’s hat-trick enable Determinators to drub Stallion
A Tremaine Richmond hat-trick enabled Mahaica Determinators to inflict a five-nil defeat on Black Stallion while Bakewell Buxton Stars were held to a draw when action in the East Coast Demerara Football Association (ECDFA)/ Mackeson Stout Premier League fooball compettion continued at the Beterverwagting ground last Sunday.
Sherwin Hermanstine opened the scoring for Determinators when he found the back of the net in the 13th minute before Richmond got the first of his three goals three minutes before the break.
Six minutes after play resumed, Azumah Roberts made it 3-0 for Determinators when he found the back of the net before Richmond completed his hat-trick with two strikes in six minutes (73rd and 79th) to complete the drubbing of the Stallions.
In the feature encounter, Bakewell Buxton Stars had to pull out all the stops to stave off their junior counterparts Bakewell United, who took the lead going into lemon time, following a strike from the boot of former national under-19 cricketer Clive Andries in the 43rd minute.
It was a short lived lead as Michael Dover got the equalizer in the 54th minute for Bakewell Buxton Stars who then had to rely on their experience to stave off a strong challenge from their junior counterparts, who despite having to share the points, are still leading the tournament.
