The Mora-Parika Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) is to be dissolved and a commission of inquiry which has been established in keeping with the Local Government Act will commence tomorrow at 10 am in the boardroom of the Mora-Parika NDC, East Bank Essequibo, the Government Information Agency (GINA) reported.
According to GINA, a petition was sent to Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Kellawan Lall seeking the dissolution of the NDC.
The commissioner heading the inquiry is Regional Development Officer in the ministry, Bharrat Persaud while Surendra Khyam, Assistant Regional Executive Officer, will perform the duties of secretary to the commission.
NDC Chairman Motie Singh has been notified that the NDC is to be dissolved.
Meanwhile, all councillors, former councillors, rate payers, employees, and residents, stall holders and vendors are advised to attend the inquiry and to give testimony to the commissioner in keeping with the provisions of the Act, GINA stated.
