A 56-year-old man was on Monday discovered dead on the public road at East Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara with suspicious wounds to the back of the head but his relatives say that he was hit by a truck.
Dead is Eshwar Seecharran called `Shilling’ of De Willem (WCD). According to the police, the man’s body was found around 3 pm on Monday with the head wounds but they are awaiting the results of the post-mortem examination. The dead man’s niece, Merlyn told Stabroek News yesterday that she was unable to visit the area where he was found but was told that it was in front of a grocery shop. She said that she was made to understand that it was a truck that hit her uncle and though he was alive he was not taken to the hospital.
According to her, from all appearances he was heading to the shop to buy items since there was money in his pocket.
The body is presently at the Best Mortuary.
