Dear Editor,
It was so sad to read of the brutal ending of the life of that attractive, intelligent young woman, Alicia Foster. In her mid-20s, she had achieved much in her short life and had been making a valuable contribution to the life of the community.
I would not, therefore, patronise her by describing her as a ‘child’.
Her grieving father said that she “was not the victim of a carjacking or a robbery, as nothing was taken from her except her life “. Could it be that the perpetrator of this foul deed was known to her, hence her refusal to exit the car when requested to do so? She was obviously not afraid and perhaps did not expect her assailant to use the firearm.
One can only imagine the effect this must have on all those who knew and loved her. Let us hope those involved are caught soon and severely dealt with, experiencing the full force of the law.
My condolences to her devastated family and friends.
Yours faithfully,
Geralda Dennison
