Two Venezuelans who gained unlawful entry into Guyana were ordered to pay a fine of $30,000 each or spend twelve months in prison when they appeared before Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Thirty-six-year-old Ikechukw Brown Anyaoha and Bill Arinze Okeke, 35, both from Venezuela, pleaded guilty to the charge of gaining unlawful entry into Guyana.
It was stated that between September 27 and October 11, Anyaoha entered Guyana by sea at an area that is not a legal port of entry while Okeke entered Guyana illegally on October 4.
The magistrate ordered each of them to pay a $30,000 court fine.
