Dear Editor,
My daughter was injured in a fire when she was one and a half years old. The injuries consisted of second and third degree burns on both arms. The burns eventually healed but have left some awful scars. The child is now four years old and even thought she is taught that she is still pretty inspite of the injuries, the taunts of some of her peers, some of whom refuse to even play with her, has made her somewhat shy and withdrawn.
The remarks of some thoughtless adults would have her putting her hands behind her back and turning her face away.
I was advised that the scars could be removed surgically, but I do not know who to go to nor where, especially since I do not have the necessary finance that would entail. So I am asking if there is any individual, organization, hospital, doctor – anybody who could help this child – to point me in the right direction.
Yours faithfully,
